Murarrie


Murarrie is a suburb of Brisbane, Australia. It is located in the eastern suburbs on the southern bank of the Brisbane River adjacent to the Gateway Bridge. Murarrie is 8 km from the CBD. Metroplex has national companies on the river and a new Scottish brewery and restaurant, Brewdog, is being built.

Murarrie has both residential and industrial sections. Brisbane’s two newspapers are published at the News Corporation’s printing facilities in Murarrie next to the Metroplex Complex.

Murarrie railway station is located on the Cleveland railway line with frequent services seven days a week.

The name came about from Mooraree House (c1861), built by Christopher Porter, an architect and owner of a sugar plantation.

The riverfront area, known as Queensport, contained a meat works (1881), and the Bulimba A and B electric powerhouses (1926), (1953).

The railway line (1889) was built to put Wynnum and Cleveland in touch with Brisbane.

Median property prices over the last year range from $635,000 for houses to $493,000 for units. With stunning views of the Gateway bridge, Murarrie is idea for quick access to the airport (10 minutes) , the gold Coast and Sunny coast and short drives to Oxford Street and the city and has its own railway station. It has easy access to Wynnum and Creek roads. The large Murarrie Recreation Reserve hosts Brisbane’s annual kite festival and hosts cyclists from all over Brisbane. Cannon Hill shopping center is close and Carindale Westfield is not far and apartments numbers are growing.
